ANKARA – Turkey warned the Minister of National Security Israel’s latest statement about the construction of a synagogue on the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque shows a “new and very dangerous” attempt to change the status and identity of Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Emphasizing the call of Ben-Gvir that provoked outrage in the Islamic world and scared everyone “with common sense”, the statement said the provocation “against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy place that belongs exclusively to Muslims, offends Muslims’ feelings and causes of tension in the whole world.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry also said that Israeli attacks on the Palestinians are increasingly threatening regional and global stability, urging the international community to stop the attack on Tel Aviv and protect the Palestinians.

Ben-Gvir claimed on Monday that Jews have the right to worship at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He said he would build a synagogue at the spot where the fire happened.

This is the first time an Israeli minister has spoken openly about building a synagogue inside the mosque complex.

Not only that, he has repeatedly asked in recent months to allow Jews to worship at the site.
