Honoring fallen Soldiers Through Archival Funds

The National Archives of the Republic of Tyva are playing a central role in preserving the legacies of those who have served. Recently, Tatyana Khertek, the mother of a soldier, Khertek Shoraan, who died in service, handed over her son’s documents to the archive. A dedicated fund, the “SVOi” collection, will be created to honor his memory and the sacrifices of others. “This is a vital step in ensuring thier stories are not forgotten,” stated a representative from the archive.

Residents of Bai-Taigin are actively participating, with families like the Kara-Sal family establishing personal funds within the “SVOi Heroes” collection to honor their loved ones. Oyun-ool Kara-Sal, the brother of a soldier who died in the Northern Military District, recently contributed to the archive, demonstrating a personal commitment to preserving his brother’s memory.

Further efforts are planned, with meetings scheduled in choon-Khemchik kojuun on October 15th to coordinate the collection of materials.The archival fund for SVO participants will continue to be developed, beginning in early 2025, through the ongoing collaboration between the National Archive and “Keepers of Historical and Cultural Heritage.”
