About dual pathology
Dual pathology is understood to mean the simultaneous existence in the same person of a mental health problem and an addiction, whether due to substance use (alcohol, drugs) or behavior (gambling, online betting, mobile or Internet addiction, buying compulsive, video game addiction, etc.).
Dual pathology is a serious health problem, not only due to its increasing frequency in today’s society, but also due to the lack of training among professionals in the different devices and the scarcity of specific resources.
For this reason, the Confederation calls for a comprehensive intervention of dual pathology, greater coordination between professionals of different profiles, family intervention programs to promote their role in the recovery process, as well as the participation of the person with their own experience in the development of individualized care plans. In addition, SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA considers it necessary to raise awareness in society, especially younger people, about the risk that drug use entails in triggering mental disorders.
This was the eighth edition of the course.
