BOLZANO. In the May and on the occasion of World Day of Cultural Diversity (which occurs on May 21st), the Integration Coordination Service organizes the 2024 edition of the day of reading aloud #multilingual. From May 13th to 30th, 26 read aloud activities will take place in 39 languages. Public and school libraries and the Free University of Bolzano are taking part in the initiative.
Students, teachers, volunteers and professionals will try their hand at reading aloud to children and their families in their mother tongue. The aim of the campaign is primarily to offer children an immersive reading experience in their native language and to showcase the diversity and richness of the languages and cultures spoken in South Tyrol.
“The objective of #multilingual days is to offer children playful access to languages and cultures through reading aloud and to recognize the variety and richness of their languages of origin. It is important to enhance and create awareness of the benefits linked to skills linguistics”, he reiterates Daniela Zambaldihead of the Integration Coordination Service.
