They were walking on the beach of Hoëdic Island when they saw his form, lying on the sand. Wednesday December 6, two journalists from Telegram reporting on the small island of Morbihan alerted the gendarmes after discovering a human skull on the beach of Port de la Croix. When they notified the police, the two local journalists learned that they were not the first to make such a discovery. Another skull had already been discovered at the end of November. The Lorient public prosecutor’s office confirmed the opening of an investigation which should result in carbon 14 dating in order to determine the approximate date of the bones.

Contacted by the daily, the mayor of the small Breton island explained that it was probably the recent storms and gales that could have scattered the bones. “For centuries, residents buried their loved ones wherever they wanted,” said the elected official.

At the last census, Hoëdic had 94 year-round residents.
