In second place is the independent candidate lawyer Igns Vēgēle, who would have been supported by 11.9% of respondents in March compared to 13.4% in March.

Prime Minister Ingrīda Šimonīte, the candidate of the ruling conservative party “Fatherland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats”, currently receives the support of 10.1% of respondents compared to 12.8% in February.

The lawyer Dainius Žalims nominated by the Freedom Party, a partner of the domestic coalition, received the support of 5.8% of respondents in the latest survey (in February – 4.3%), followed by the leader of the newly founded party “Nemunas rytasusma”, member of the opposition Mixed Deputies Group of the Seimas, Remiģijus Žemaitaitis with 4.2 % of polled support (in February – 4.7%).

3.1% of respondents support the Seimas member and former health minister Aurelias Verigas, nominated by the opposition Union of Farmers and Greens (in February – 2.6%). Veriga announced this month that she will not continue the fight for the position of the country’s president.

2.6% of respondents are ready to support doctor and independent candidate Eduardas Vaitkus. In February, they were 1.7%.

Five other candidates were offered to survey participants.

7.6% of respondents said they would vote for someone else, 8.1% said they would not participate in the election, and 16.2% said they were undecided.

The survey, in which 1009 respondents took part, took place from March 18 to 28.

The presidential elections in Lithuania will be held on May 12. If none of the candidates receives the support of at least half of the voters in the first round of elections, a second round of elections is held two weeks later between the two candidates who won the most support in the first round. The President of Lithuania can hold this office for two five-year terms in a row.

The Central Election Commission has registered eight candidates.
