At least two police officers were shot dead this Monday in the Dos Bocas sector, jurisdiction of Santa Rosa de Aguán, department of Colón, in the Caribbean of Honduras, reported an official source in Tegucigalpa. “We regret to report that in Dos Bocas, Santa Rosa de Aguan, Colón, 2 fellow police officers were murdered in the line of duty,” said the Minister of Security of Honduras, Gustavo Sánchez, on the social network X (formerly Twitter). “We immediately sent a contingent to the area to capture those responsible for this atrocious crime, we will not rest until we achieve this,” added the senior official, without specifying details about the crime.

According to local media reports, the police They were chasing some alleged criminals who were driving a double-cab vehicle, who upon arriving at an African palm plantation shot them with heavy-caliber firearms.

The deceased police officers were identified as Danilo Bucle Gómez and Felipe Santiago Rivas.

The departments of Colón, Gracias a Dios and Atlántida, all in the Honduran Caribbean, are used by drug traffickers who receive shipments of drugs, mainly cocaine, from Colombia, destined for the United States.
