If indeed it has already been high, Élisabeth Borne’s confidence rating has reached its lowest levels for the start of 2024. According to two surveys published on January 4, 66% of French people are calling for the departure of the First minister.

According to the Elabe barometer, which reported the results to Les Échos, only 23% of respondents trust the 49.3 distributor to “effectively confront the main problems” of the country. According to another study carried out by Odoxa for Le Figaro, 66% of French people are calling for his departure. “Never have there been so many people wanting to separate from her,” notes the institute. Are we heading towards yet another reshuffle signed by Macron?

Maybe. It must be said that according to polls, there are only two current ministers that the French would prefer to see stay rather than leave: Gabriel Attal and Bruno Le Maire. Moreover, 36% of French people believe that the Minister of National Education would make “a good Prime Minister”, followed by his colleague from the Economy at 31%.

The Minister of Defense, Sébastien Lecornu, whose name has been circulating in recent days for Matignon, comes last with only 10%.

More generally, the ranking of the most popular political figures still shows the former Prime Minister, Édouard Philippe, in first place with 41% positive opinions. But the rising star of the macronie that is Gabriel Attal follows closely, with 39% of positive opinions. Followed by the two leaders of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen (36%) and Jordan Bardella (33%), also on the rise.

On the left, François Hollande comes first, with 31% positive opinions.
