SEA Games 2025: Indonesia’s Men’s Soccer Schedule Reshaped by Team Withdrawals

A significant reshuffling of team composition in the Group C of the 2025 SEA Games men’s soccer tournament has altered the playing schedule for the U-23 Indonesian National Team. The changes stem from the withdrawal of Cambodia and a subsequent team relocation.

The disruption began with the Cambodian U-23 national team’s decision to withdraw from the competition, citing security factors as the primary reason. This withdrawal dramatically altered the landscape of Group A, leaving it comprised of only Thailand and Timor Leste. As a result, Singapore, originally slated for Group C, has been reassigned to Group A.

Group C now consists of just three teams: Indonesia, Myanmar, and the Philippines. This consolidation has directly impacted Indonesia’s initial match schedule. Originally scheduled to face Singapore on December 5, 2025, Indonesia will now kick off its campaign against the Philippines on December 8, 2025, at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiangmai.

The team, coached by Indra Sjafri, will conclude its group stage play against Myanmar four days later, on December 12, 2025, at the same venue. Sjafri has already announced the squad, which includes key players such as Ivar Jenner, Mauro Zijlstra, Tim Geypens, Marselino Ferdinand, Rafael Struick, and Hokky Caraka.

Here is the updated schedule for the men’s football tournament:

  • December 5, 2025: Myanmar vs. Philippines – 700th Anniversary Stadium, Chiangmai
  • December 8, 2025: Philippines vs. Indonesia – 700th Anniversary Stadium, Chiangmai
  • December 12, 2025: Indonesia vs. Myanmar – 700th Anniversary Stadium, Chiangmai

These adjustments present both challenges and opportunities for the Indonesian team as they navigate a revised path toward potential success in the 2025 SEA Games.
