Knights Celebrate 50 Years, Prepare for Arizona Showdown in Crucial Big 12 Match

The UCF volleyball team is poised to celebrate a half-century of competition as they conclude their three-match homestand against Arizona, a team closely matched in RPI. This milestone celebration coincides with a pivotal moment in the Knights’ season, as they aim to build momentum heading into a challenging stretch of Big 12 play.
The Knights (7-3 at home in 2025) are coming off a dominant sweep of West Virginia on Sunday, a victory that propelled them back into the win column. At home, the team has demonstrated a potent offensive attack, averaging 14.18 kills per set with a .279 hitting percentage.
Bouncing Back with a Sweeping Victory
After a difficult three-match losing streak against some of the Big 12’s top contenders, the Knights rediscovered their form against the Mountaineers. The team recorded a season-high 10 aces in a three-set match, led by freshman Sarah Mendoza, who matched her career-best with four.
“We really focused on aggressive serving and taking risks,” a team spokesperson stated. “It paid off, and it gave us a huge advantage.”
Junior Armour once again led the Knights in kills, notching 17 to continue her impressive start to conference play.She has amassed 99 kills in just six Big 12 matches, including a remarkable 78 across her last four. The Knights finished the match with a .341 hitting percentage and 41 kills,marking their fourth-best hitting percentage of the season and second-highest in Big 12 competition.
Armour’s Stellar Performance Fuels Knights’ Offense
Armour’s consistent excellence has been a cornerstone of the Knights’ success. After leading the team in kills (277) and points (324.5) in 2024, she was rightfully recognized on the Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Team.Through 18 matches this season, the Colorado native has lived up to the hype, consistently delivering team-leading offensive performances.
In a particularly memorable performance in front of her family at Colorado, Armour achieved a career-high 30 kills, the most by a Knight sence McKenna melville recorded 30 against Georgia on Sept. 11, 2021. This feat made her only the 18th player in program history to reach the 30-kill milestone in a single match.
She followed that up with a combined 43 kills across matches at Colorado and Iowa State – her highest two-match total to date. Remarkably, Armour has recorded 10 or more kills in more matches than she hasn’t since her collegiate debut in 2023, boasting 43 such outings in 67 career matches.
Currently, Armour ranks sixth in the Big 12 with 4.16 kills per set and sixth in points per set with 4.67, figures that also place her among the top-100 nationally. Her consistent performance is a key indicator of the Knights’ potential for success as they navigate the competitive Big 12 landscape.
