The Ukrainian counteroffensive did not have the expected results. Internally and externally, there are those who accuse the Kiev authorities of mistakes that are compromising the army’s performance.
In a statement to Euronews Romania, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine said that it is not worth moving forward without means.
“It’s not a question of whether we need fighters or not. It’s a question of whether we accept people dying on the ground. It is absolutely devastating rhetoric to hear that Ukraine has failed to carry out all ground operations. Yes, we could do it, but at the price of thousands of lives. Therefore, we prefer to wait for the F-16s and be successful”, said Olha Stefanishyna.
And the situation could get worse. It is increasingly difficult to reach an agreement to guarantee increased US assistance to Ukraine by the end of the year. Despite warnings from the White House about the consequences of inaction, the impasse in Congress has not been resolved.
