A local elected official detonated grenades during a municipal meeting in Keretsky, in the Zakarpattia region of western Ukraine, on Friday, injuring 26 people, according to national police.
Images, published by the authorities and relayed by the Kyiv Postshow a man entering a small room where several people are already seated.
After a short conversation, he takes out his pockets and throws what appear to be grenades to the ground. Several loud explosions and panicked screams followed, before the video was cut.
Several injured in serious condition
National police said a local official “detonated grenades” during a town meeting in Keretsky, a village in the region. According to the Kyiv Post, the suspect was identified as a deputy from the “Servants of the People” party.

Twenty-six people were injured, six of whom are in serious condition, police said, adding that doctors were trying to resuscitate the perpetrator. No motive has at this stage been mentioned by the Ukrainian authorities.
Many Ukrainians have had access to weapons since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
