Ukraine accuses Russia of bombing hospital: “There are children under the rubble”

Ukrainian officials said recently (Wednesday) that a Russian attack had hit a children’s hospital and a maternity hospital in the besieged port city of Mariupol on the Black Sea coast, the AP news agency reported.

A statement posted on the City Council’s social media account said the hospital had suffered “enormous” damage.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zlansky tweeted that there are “people and children under the rubble.” And called the attack “horrific.”

Zalanski’s deputy head of the office, Kirilo Tymoshenko, said authorities were trying to determine the number of people who might have been killed or injured.

Authorities in Ukraine said that according to the latest data, 1,170 civilians had been killed in Mariupol from Russian fire since the beginning of the fighting.
