Embassy of Ukraine in Mexico trusts Mexican government will arrest Putin
The Embassy of Ukraine in Mexico expresses confidence that the Mexican government will comply with the international arrest warrant issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin if he attends the upcoming inauguration on October 1st.
In a statement published on their social media, the embassy acknowledged the invitation extended to representatives of all countries with which Mexico has diplomatic relations and expressed gratitude to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the invitation.
The statement further emphasized that the Mexican government is aware of Putin’s status as a “war criminal” and the international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, which Mexico recognizes.
The controversy surrounding Putin’s potential attendance arose after the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced the invitation to the inauguration.
