Ukraine war: MBBS on the way | Ukraine

by time news

New Delhi ∙ Due to the war in Ukraine, the further studies of students who are halfway through their MBBS studies are uncertain. The National Medical Commission and the Ministry of Health have started deliberations in this regard, but no final decision has been taken. Students and others have approached the center many times with the demand to reorganize the studies, but no positive response has been received.

The Supreme Court had earlier instructed the church to take an appropriate decision. In the Foreign Medical Graduates Licentiate Regulations (2021), the possibility of continuing the course in private colleges in India or other countries was examined, but the lack of decision in this regard is bothering students and parents.

Reluctance to study in Russia; Big spend in Hungary

Countries like Russia and Hungary have promised to provide an opportunity for further studies, but most of the students are not in favor of this. 3379 medical students have returned to Kerala from Ukraine. Only 5 of them expressed their willingness to study in Russia. Students say that the cost of living in Hungary is high. Most of the students are hoping that the Union Health Ministry and the National Medical Commission will take a favorable decision.

Closed course, strict rules

In the same situation, there are people who cannot go to China and are facing difficulties in their studies. There was no positive response from the government regarding them either. As per the current rules, all phases of the course including classes, training and internship must be completed in the same institution where the course was taken abroad. Even if this change is allowed, a decision needs to be made on how to allow people at different stages of the course to complete the course, conditions for admitting them, fee structure, syllabus, matters to avoid future legal problems etc.
