Yesterday, October 26, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced on the creation of an advisory committee that will deal with artificial intelligence issues. Committee members will consider issues of international regulation of the use of AI, as well as study the risks and challenges associated with such technologies.

As Mr. Guterres said in a statement, the committee included 39 people, representatives of governments, business, the technology sector, civil society and the scientific community. Committee members include Anna Abramova, director of the MGIMO AI Center, Mira Murati, director of technology at OpenAI, Natasha Crampton, director of responsible use of AI at Microsoft, and Hiroaki Kitano, director of technology at Sony.

Experts will have to develop recommendations for the responsible use of AI. The preliminary version of the document should be ready by the end of the year, the final version by next summer. The first meeting of the committee will take place today, October 27.

Kommersant spoke about the risks of using AI in some areas, in particular in cybersecurity, in the article “Neural networks are reaching out to the UN.”
