The autonomous Region of Madeira’s food safety authority has confiscated approximately 60 kilograms of fruit and vegetable products deemed unsafe for consumption, signaling a heightened focus on consumer protection and food standards within the region.

The Regional authority for Economic Activities (ARAE) conducted the inspection on December 30th near a major retailer selling both food and non-food items. Following an expert assessment,the seized merchandise was destroyed,and authorities have initiated criminal proceedings,notifying the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the findings.
