UNICIA Consortium Launches Workshops to Enhance Global Dialogue & Digital Literacy

The UNICIA consortium is launching a series of workshops and courses aimed at equipping young Europeans and africans with crucial 21st-century skills,focusing on intercultural understanding and democratic participation.

The UNICIA consortium, comprised of universities in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Senegal, Nigeria, and South Africa, announced a new suite of educational programs on January 19, 2026. These initiatives address a growing need for improved communication skills and digital literacy in an increasingly interconnected world. The programs specifically target bridging cultural gaps and empowering young adults to actively participate in democratic processes.

“Multicultural Babel Tower” Workshop: Decoding Global communication

UNICIA’s “Multicultural Babel Tower” workshop, a second iteration of the popular program, is now open for registration. this online workshop focuses on improving communication skills across the languages spoken by the consortium’s partner institutions. The program emphasizes interactive conversations centered around everyday life scenarios,allowing participants to explore the nuances of communication in different national languages.

The next session, scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.,will delve into the cognitive mechanisms of language learning,examining how the brain assimilates new linguistic structures. A key focus will be on the culture of Senegal and the Wolof language, explored through sessions led by representatives from Gaston Berger University in Senegal. According to a consortium release, the workshop aims to provide “concrete knowledge” in an “authentic atmosphere.”

Who is eligible? Individuals between 18 and 26 years old who are students or employed professionals and reside in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Senegal, Nigeria, or South Africa.

“E-Democracy” Course: Empowering Digital Citizens

Alongside the “Multicultural Babel Tower” workshop, UNICIA is offering a certified “e-democracy” course. What does the course cover? The course aims to equip young people with the skills to navigate the digital landscape and participate effectively in democratic processes online. Open to young people aged 18-26 – including students, university staff, and those outside of academic institutions – the course will be delivered in six sessions between January 15, 2026, and February 18, 2026. The registration deadline for the “e-democracy” course was January 14, 2026.

“Social & Communication Skills” Workshop: Building Interpersonal Effectiveness

A unique workshop focused on “Social & Communication Skills” is also available, scheduled for January 21, 2026. How will this workshop help? Led in english by a teacher from Bordeaux Montaigne University, this participatory workshop aims to enhance participants’ interpersonal effectiveness.
