Unplugged Expands Digital Detox Retreats with Seven New Cabins, Including First Spanish Location
A growing desire for disconnection is driving expansion for Unplugged, a provider of tech-free retreats, as the company adds seven new cabins to its portfolio, including its first international location in Spain.
Unplugged announced the expansion of its cabin collection to 45 locations, with ambitious plans to reach 60 by the end of 2025. This growth reflects a significant trend in the travel industry: a rising demand for analogue wellness experiences and immersive nature retreats.
The new additions cater to a variety of preferences, ranging from rustic off-grid escapes to wellness-focused retreats. Bella, located in Herefordshire, offers a luxurious experience with a wood-fired hot tub and premium bedding. For those seeking complete isolation, Pippin, an off-grid log cabin in Powys, Wales, provides a secluded woodland experience. Helix, near Tunbridge Wells, represents a new direction for Unplugged, partnering with health innovator Healf to create a health-optimized cabin equipped with features like ice baths, red-light therapy, and a sauna.
Further expanding the UK presence, Frank in Hertfordshire is situated on a working farm with minimalist design and panoramic views, while Minty in Hampshire is nestled amongst woodland with a private hot tub. Reggie, also in Herefordshire, offers another opportunity for complete nature immersion. Most notably, the company has ventured beyond the UK with Brett, located in Camprodon, Barcelona, Spain. Surrounded by ancient trees, this cabin provides access to rivers, waterfalls, and caves.
“Expansion in the UK is something we are continuing to progress with at Unplugged,” stated a company representative. “We are having another successful year, demonstrating that these types of tech-free escapes are something that’s of high demand. We look forward to rolling out additional cabins throughout the year, in the UK and further afield too.”
Unplugged cabins are specifically designed to facilitate digital detox, with a minimum three-night stay – a duration scientifically proven to yield benefits from disconnecting from technology. Each cabin is equipped with analogue entertainment options like board games, books, and a radio, with prices starting at £390 per cabin.
