Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam said that due to the lack of party nominations, this year’s upazila election candidates have an opportunity to check their popularity. Those who have won the hearts of the people through work, were vocal against unjust oppression, established peace and order in the society by judging people with justice, they can test their acceptability in the upazila elections.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at an Eid reunion meeting on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr with leaders and public representatives of the local upazila Awami League and allied organizations at his home in Pomgaon, Manoharganj upazila of Comilla on Friday (April 12). At this time, he wished everyone present a holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The local government minister announced that the candidate for the local parliament member in the upazila election should be neutral and said that anyone from Awami and allied organizations can be a candidate, but they must refrain from dissing each other anywhere, including through social media.
Md. Tajul Islam said that there has been unprecedented economic development in Bangladesh in the last 15 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Mentioning that people’s purchasing power has increased, he said that the people of the country are in a relatively good condition despite the global economic crisis. Food shortage has been eliminated in the country, electrification has been done and there has been a revolutionary change in the road communication system.
The minister emphasized on the development of human resources and said that the development of the country is accelerated if the ability and taste of the people are improved. Only the fit survive so human resource development is essential. Mentioning the need for everyone to practice good behavior in the society, he said, if social justice is ensured, people can live in peace.
