The England cricket team is going to tour India for a 5-match Test series. Accordingly, the first Test match between these two teams is going to start on 25th. This series is considered to be of utmost importance as it will count towards the Test Championship.
India’s last Test series loss at home was against England. After the Test series held in 2012, India has been unbeaten against any team in the world, including England, at home.
On the other hand, under the leadership of Ben Stokes, England has been accumulating series of victories by playing as aggressively as T20 in Test cricket. So England is going to play in this series with the hope that they can achieve it in India as it happened in 2012.
In this case, former England captain Nasser Hussain has warned that if India prepares pitches so that the ball spins from the first day of the series, it may go against them. On the other hand, if pitches can rotate in the opposite direction, it will be a lottery for England, he said as follows;-
“Perhaps if I were in the management of the Indian team I would ask for good pitches that would favor some spin. Maybe if they ask for more spin pitches it will be a lottery for us. Because in those situations England will also bring their spinners into the game.
The way England bat, they will not be afraid of pitches that favor India’s spin. If England play like last tour, Rohit and Dravid will ask their groundskeepers to give them more spinable pitches,” he said.
