San Salvador. The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Henry Mejía, this Friday, September 27, received in his office the ambassador of the United States to El Salvador, William Duncan.
Sources from the country’s highest court of law and justice said that the meeting reaffirmed the ties of cooperation between the two countries and explore new areas of cooperation in matters of justice.
During the meeting, senior officials discussed matters of common interest, such as strengthening the Salvadoran judicial system, the fight against gender violence and the protection of vulnerable groups.
The sources added that Ambassador Duncan reiterated his country’s commitment to support El Salvador’s efforts in these areas. The ambassador’s approach would boost the country’s new judicial authorities.
“We appreciate the cooperation granted by the United States in several projects for judicial reform and to promote the issues of violence against women (…) As a Court, in this period, we want to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations as States. United and El Salvador, which is a small town, but big at heart,” said the new president of the CSJ.
