Washington, United States | The United States on Wednesday announced a new $1.3 billion military aid package to Ukraine, which includes air defense systems, anti-tank missiles, drones and other equipment.
The package is part of Washington’s efforts to meet all of Ukraine’s “urgent needs by committing critical capabilities in the near term, while also building the long-term capability of Ukraine’s armed forces,” the Department said. Defense in a statement.
Aid will not arrive immediately on the battlefield, as Washington will buy this equipment on the market or from its partners, rather than sending material from its reserves.
The package includes four NASAM air defense systems and ammunition for them, TOW anti-tank missiles, 152mm artillery shells, drones and anti-drone systems, as well as various vehicles.
The United States has led the international community’s support for Ukraine, and has built a coalition to support kyiv after the Russian invasion.
