/ US officials said on Thursday that Washington’s estimates indicate that the attack on its forces in Jordan was carried out by an Iranian-made drone, according to Reuters.
In a related context, the American CBS network quoted American officials as saying that “plans have been approved to strike targets in Iraq and Syria that will last for days and include Iranian facilities and individuals.”
They added, “The strikes come in response to the drone and missile attacks that targeted US forces in the region.”
On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden pledged a response that would likely take “several” forms, while saying he held Iran “responsible” for supplying weapons to the people who launched the attack, which targeted a US logistics base in Jordan, on Sunday.
On Sunday, three members of the US military were killed in a drone attack targeting a base in Jordan near the Syrian border, and Washington accused Iranian-backed factions of being behind it.
