Japanese Prime Minister Bumio Kishida met US President Joe Biden at the White House today.
In a statement released by President Joe Biden, President Joe Biden said, “The message from the United States is clear: Our investment in the US-Japan alliance provides enormous funding for issues ranging from national security to the economy. This will continue for years to come.
Also, Japanese Prime Minister Bumio Kishida has been a staunch friend of the United States. I look forward to sitting down with him and discussing how we can work together to promote peace, security and prosperity for both countries in the Indo-Pacific.
“We are modernizing our military alliances, following Japan’s historic increase in defense spending and developing a new national security strategy,” it said.
Following this, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida thanked Joe Biden for the US work on regional security. And Japan and the United States are currently facing the most challenging and complex security environment in recent history. “Tokyo unveiled its new security strategy last month,” he said.
