The US will begin training Ukrainian pilots in October to use F-16 fighter jets. The announcement was made by the Pentagon.
Next month, the pilots will have English classes, which are essential to be able to fly the fighters, and the following month they will begin training at the National Guard base in Tucson, in the state of Arizona.
After Sweden and Denmark committed to sending F-16s, Norway also announced the sending of fighters.
“When the US gave the green light to all infrastructure and pilot training, Norway immediately supported the commitment and Norwegian trainers will join other countries and work together”, underlined the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre.
On the ground, Ukraine says it has landed a special forces unit on the coast of occupied Crimea, controlled by Russia since 2014.
