They will participate in all phases of the data management lifecycle, including data collection, processing, storage, security, and dialog. Like their Software Engineering counterparts, Data Engineers will also be expected to leverage AI and automation to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Infrastructure Engineering Internships
Infrastructure Engineering interns will be responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports USAA’s business functions and IT services. This role emphasizes balancing availability, security, efficiency, and functionality. Interns will learn to design scalable infrastructure, automate service delivery, and build monitoring tools, while also gaining experience in resolving production issues and analyzing outages.
AI Integration as a Core focus
A recurring theme across all three internship tracks is the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI).Interns will be encouraged to seek opportunities to integrate AI-powered solutions with automated workflows, demonstrating USAA’s commitment to innovation. Familiarity with tools like Github Copilot is considered a plus, and demonstrated experience with automation or Gen AI implementation in previous projects is highly valued.

To qualify for the 2026 internship program, applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher at a four-year accredited university and plan to graduate after August 8, 2026. Students graduating between August 8, 2026, and July 2027 are particularly encouraged to apply.Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of their chosen field and demonstrate business acumen.
