The Utah State Aggies men’s tennis team concluded play at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic in Las Vegas,Nevada,this weekend,showcasing resilience in several closely contested matches and securing notable wins in both singles and doubles competition.
Aggies Battle Through Three-Set Thrillers
The tournament, held November 2-4 at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex, provided a challenging surroundings for the Aggies, with numerous matches extending to a decisive third set. Despite facing tough opposition from Northern Arizona university (NAU), Utah State demonstrated a fighting spirit and a commitment to improvement.
Emmanuel Alex Leads the Charge
Emmanuel Alex, a sophomore, emerged as a standout performer for Utah State, leading the team with two notable singles victories. He first defeated Jakub Volesky of Northern Arizona with a score of 6-4, 6-4. Alex then mounted a comeback to overcome ivan Perisic, winning 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Despite his success, Alex faced a narrow defeat against Vincent Vohl in a hard-fought three-set match, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4.
Pasanen and Rigby contribute key Performances
Sophomore eemil Pasanen added to the Aggies’ success with a straight-set victory over Kai Mills, 6-3, 6-2.Pasanen also engaged in a competitive three-set match against Daniels Tens, ultimately falling with a final score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Junior Keanu Rigby similarly pushed his opponents to the limit, winning the first set against Tens before ultimately losing 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, and narrowly losing to Mills 7-6, 6-4.
Nobel Makes Impact in freshman Debut
Freshman Eliot Nobel quickly made his mark, navigating two challenging three-set matches. He secured a victory against Noa Tcherniack with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, and another against Takumi Katsuda, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
