UTSA Women’s Basketball Prepares to Defend championship with Potluck and Open Practice

Fans will have the opportunity to meet the team and enjoy a community event as the UTSA women’s basketball program gears up to defend its 2025 American Conference Regular-Season Championship. The Roadrunners will host their annual potluck on Tuesday, Oct. 21, following an open practice session at the convocation Center.
Fan Engagement and First Look at the 2025-26 Squad
The open practice is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.,providing an early glimpse of the team’s preparations for the upcoming season. Promptly following the practice, at 7 p.m., the annual potluck will commence. Individuals interested in attending and contributing a dish are encouraged to RSVP to Assistant Coach Sophia Ramos at [email protected].
This event offers a unique opportunity for supporters to connect with the players and coaching staff before the 2025-26 season officially begins.
Returning Talent and Preseason Recognition
UTSA boasts a strong core of returning players, including key starters Idara Udo and Maya Linton, alongside Siena Guttadauro, Damara Allen, Mia Hammonds, Nyayongah Gony, Taylor Ross, Cheyenne Rowe, and Emilia Dannebauer.
Udo has already received meaningful recognition heading into the season, being named Preseason All-Conference. Last year, the Plano, Texas native started all 31 games for the Roadrunners and earned Second-Team All-Conference honors. She demonstrated a well-rounded game, averaging 8.7 points per game while also contributing 25 blocks and 24 steals, shooting at a 42.0% clip. Linton proved to be a defensive stalwart, earning 26 starts, while Allen and Rowe saw action in six and one games, respectively.
Strategic Additions to the Roster
The Roadrunners have bolstered their roster with six new additions, including key transfer players. Ereauna Hardaway joins the team from North Texas, where she served as a starting point guard for the past three seasons and helped the Mean Green secure a Co-American Conference regular-Season Championship in 2023-24. Saher Alizada arrives from South Plains College, bringing championship experience after contributing to their 2024-25 Western Junior College Athletic Conference Championship and a 26-5 overall record, averaging 6.7 points per game. Jayda Holiman will also contribute after two seasons at UTRGV, where she was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team.
rounding out the incoming class are true freshmen Sema Udo, The word Bean, and Adriana Robles.
