The president of Iran, Ibrahim Raishi, met today Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Uzbekistan, within the framework of the session of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
The Turkish president explained, among other things, to his Iranian counterpart that Turkey is ready to assume the role of guarantor powerto resolve the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza.
The agenda of the discussion between the two leaders includes the crisis between Hamas and Israel as well as bilateral relations.
Earlier, in a speech at the meeting, Erdogan had called on the world community to stand on the right side of history.
“Remember, when 25 people were killed in the Charlie Hebdo attacks, world leaders demonstrated together in Paris. Now 11,000 women and children have been killed and the world is silent. America and the West are silent together. Children and women watch them every day on TV. If we don’t raise our voice here today as the Organization for Economic Co-operation, as Muslims, when will we?” Erdogan said.
“The Israeli government, which has the full support of Western countries, continues to bomb schools, mosques, churches, hospitals, universities and civilians, violating all the values of humanity. We are faced with a massacre that legitimizes the slaughter of children. Western countries, which constantly talk about human rights and freedoms and democracy, are watching all these Israeli massacres from afar,” Erdoğan complained.
“These countries and organizations have lost so much of their dignity that they cannot even call for a ceasefire, let alone criticize the child killers. Those who turn a blind eye when some people burn the Koran under the pretext of freedom of expression, condone these massacres under the pretext of freedom of expression cannot even tolerate the Palestinian flag,” he added.
