“We vote for what we need, we don’t waste where we don’t,” V. Landsbergis wrote.

The honorary chairman of the conservative party cast his vote in Palanga city municipality.

“Thank you, dear Professor, for visiting us and casting your so important vote in our beautiful Palanga”, commented the mayor Šarūnas Vaitkus after V. Landsbergis’ post.

ELTA reminds that early voting in the presidential election and the referendum on preserving citizenship continues until Thursday evening. Voters can vote in all 60 municipalities until 8 p.m., regardless of where they have declared their place of residence.

The main election day is Sunday.

8 candidates are competing for the post of the head of the country – Gitanas Nausėda, who is seeking a second term, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė nominated by the conservatives, representative of the Freedom Party, former chairman of the Constitutional Court (KT) Dainius Žalimas, independent candidates Ignas Vėgėlė and Eduardas Vaitkus, founder of the “Nemunos aušra” party Remigijus Žemaitaitis , Giedrimas Jeglinskas of the Democratic Union “Vardan Lietuvos” and Chairman of the Labor Party Andrius Mazuronis.

In the referendum ballot, it is proposed to abandon the sentence currently included in the Constitution: “except for the individual cases provided for by law, no one can be a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania and another state at the same time”. This provision does not allow the preservation of Lithuanian citizenship after acquiring the citizenship of another state.
