On February 20-21, the delegation led by RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan participated in the 11th Asia-Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development in Bangkok.

During the solemn opening ceremony of the Forum, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan was elected the Vice-President of the Forum.

On the same day, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs made a speech: “Eliminating poverty in the midst of multiple crises and strengthening the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. to the high-level panel discussion entitled “Providing sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions in the Asia-Pacific region”.

In his speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan presented the challenges faced by Armenia in recent years, in the conditions of the situation in the region, the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno Karabakh and the instability of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, which have created additional problems on the way to the realization of sustainable development goals by the Republic of Armenia.

Referring to the challenges faced by the Republic of Armenia in the face of climate change, Deputy Minister Kostanyan highlighted the importance of the full implementation of the Paris Agreement, as well as the use of effective financial mechanisms in the field of combating climate change in support of developing countries’ fight against climate change.

Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan also presided over the Forum’s session dedicated to the Future Summit, during which reference was made to the Future Pact to be adopted as a result of the summit.

Within the framework of the forum, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs had meetings with the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, the Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for the Asia-Pacific Region, Armida Salsia Alishyahbana, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations for Youth Affairs, Felipe Polie, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Poksai Khaikhamfitun. .
