Montpellier’s French international Valentin Porte will miss three to four weeks of competition due to a muscle injury.
The captain and international defender of Montpellier Handball, Valentin Porte, victim of a contracture in a calf last week, will be unavailable for a period of three to four weeks, we learned on Wednesday from the Hérault club.
«Valentin has a small lesion on the aponeurosis of the calf. It usually takes three to four weeks to heal from this injury. He will have an MRI on Monday so that we can see more clearly.“said MHB manager Patrice Canayer. The 31-year-old right-back was injured on April 21 during the Coupe de France quarter-final against Paris SG (41-24).
A complicated season for Porte
The injury of the Olympic champion (151 selections) compromises his participation in the quarter-final of the Champions League that Montpellier will play against the Poles of Kielce on May 12 and 18.
Porte had missed the start of the season due to an abdominal tear contracted during the final of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, before experiencing a period of “depression” after the last European championship in Hungary and Slovakia.
Montpellier occupies fourth place in the championship before playing the 24th day on Friday against Nancy.
