italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has died, his foundation announced. He was 93 years old.
“Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones,” the foundation said.
A lying in state will be held on Wednesday and Thursday to honor the designer, best known for the valentino fashion brand. His funeral is scheduled to take place in Rome on Friday.
Born in Voghera, in northern Italy, Valentino first gained prominence after establishing a fashion house in Paris.
He became renowned for creating ‘Valentino red’ – a distinctive shade of red that became a signature element in his designs.

Valentino’s designs were frequently showcased on Hollywood red carpets, with stars like Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez, and Cate Blanchett among those who favored his creations.
Valentino garavani’s career spanned over five decades, beginning in the late 1950s.He initially worked with established fashion houses before launching his own label in 1960. His designs quickly gained recognition for their elegance, sophistication, and bold use of color. He built a global empire,expanding into ready-to-wear,accessories,and fragrances.
The designer retired in 2008, leaving the creative direction of the Valentino brand to Pierpaolo Piccioli. However, Valentino remained a prominent figure in the fashion world, continuing to influence designers and inspire fashion enthusiasts. He died peacefully at his home in Rome, surrounded by family and friends, bringing an end to a remarkable life dedicated to style and artistry.
