More than 1,000 participants took part in the Ashkelon race, in the 5 km and 10 km allotments, and the 15 km Israeli championships held this morning in Ashkelon.

Along with the runners who came from all over the country, representatives of the comprehensive schools, comprehensive V and comprehensive B and over 50 children and adolescents with special needs in cooperation with the Mashav Association also participated in the race.

Lerman and Leria came first in the Israeli championship in the women’s category with a result of 58:28. Ben Adiva Carmit and Klein Hadas came in second and third, respectively. It should be noted that the Israeli runner-up, Ben Adiva, is the coach of the athletics team at the Ashkelon Municipality’s athletics center.

The first place in the Israeli championship in the men’s category came from Melda Bukaio with a result of 47:13. After him, in second and third places, respectively, came Dagsau Azaz and Sharabi Idan.

The race was led by the Sports Department of the Ashkelon Municipality and in cooperation with the Israeli Athletics Association.
