American video game company Valve reportedthat a new version of the Steam Deck portable console will be released on November 16th. Among the innovations are an OLED screen and more memory. The company also said that in two or three years Valve will release a more powerful Steam Deck 2.

New versions of the Steam Deck with an OLED screen will cost $549 for a device with 512 GB of storage and $649 for a console with 1 TB of memory. There will also be a limited line of consoles with translucent body — this version can only be ordered in the USA and Canada. In terms of performance, the new versions do not differ from the original console, but the OLED screen significantly improves the picture.

Steam Deck with a capacity of 256 GB and an LCD screen will fall in price to $399. Steam Deck models with 64 GB and 512 GB drives will be discontinued. The technological update of the console is the last for the current generation; in the future, the developers will work on Steam Deck 2, which will have a significant increase in power.

Previously, media reported that the circulation of Steam Deck could exceed 3 million copies by the end of this year. Valve has repeatedly tried to enter the gaming device market, but most of its attempts to gain a foothold in it have been unsuccessful. Since 2019, the company has also been selling its Valve Index virtual reality headset.
