“This is such an honor for me as a nurse,” Poling shared. “I love my job and helping our patients regain their health is what nursing is all about. Being able to do it at a small, friendly hospital with a family atmosphere is extra special for me.”

The DAISY Award was founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of an autoimmune disease. His family established the award to acknowledge the extraordinary care nurses provide and their profound impact on patients and their loved ones.
Recipients are chosen throughout the year based on nominations submitted by patients, their families, and colleagues at Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.
