The Vande Bharat train sustained damage to its front when it rammed into buffalo cows standing on the tracks near Maninagar, Gujarat. While the damaged Vande Bharat train is being repaired, a case has been registered against the owners of the buffaloes.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the ‘Vande Bharat’ train service between Gandhinagar and Mumbai last week. Vande Bharat Express running from Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar in Gurajat at 11.15 am on the Wadhwa station to Maninagar line was derailed after buffaloes crossed the tracks. The front end of the engine was damaged in the accident.

As the incident created a stir, the railway officials immediately announced that the train would be repaired soon. Also, “Unexpectedly buffaloes came across. The train was traveling at a speed of about 140 kmph at the time of the accident. If the brakes were on then, the train would have stalled and the lives of the passengers would have been in danger”, he said.

Following this, the nose cone cover of the front compartment was replaced with a new one at the Mumbai Central Depot. And additional works have been done and train service is about to resume. Railway officials have said that they are taking all measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
