The incident in which the body of a dead old woman was placed on the road and involved in a public picket has caused a stir.
Grandmother Pechiyammal has died due to ill health in Kailasapuram village in Tirupur district. His body was taken to a cemetery in the area for cremation. Then suddenly the public there put his body on the road and engaged in a picket fight. Various demands were made that the body of the deceased grandmother should be taken away and therefore a flyover should be built there and a roof should be built over the cemetery.
On learning about this, the Maniyachi Ottapidaram police rushed to the spot and held talks with them. Following the police’s assurance that their demands would be met, they declared a protest and went to donate the grandmother’s body.
