Perfume and Eau du Toilette Vegan perfume for men: These fragrances do not contain any animal ingredients

Isn’t every perfume vegan? No way! The guide clarifies which animal products are in the cologne and which perfumes for men do without them.
A heavy, woody perfume can beguile the senses at night – until you know what you’re actually smelling. Many of the most beautiful Fragrances come from animals and in some cases they have to die for it. Whether a perfume does not contain ingredients of animal origin is not so easy to find out. To be on the safe side, go to manufacturers such as “The Body Shop”, “The Broolyn Soap Company”, “Korres” or “Jean & Len” who do not use any animal products for their perfumes.
These fragrances are of animal origin
Finding out whether your current favorite perfume contains animal ingredients is trickier. And this is unfortunately more than expected:
Musk or Musk: Is a fragrance obtained from musk deer. In their glands, the animals produce a strongly fragrant substance, but they have to die to obtain it. Amber or amber: Is a waxy substance produced in the digestive system of sperm whales. She swims in the sea and can be found on beaches. When dried, ambergris exudes a pleasant scent.Honey and Beeswax: Everyone knows it and is often used in perfumes to give the fragrance a sweet note. In addition to beeswax and honey, other products such as propolis (bee resin) and royal jelly (feed juice for queen bees) can also be used in perfumes.Castoreum or “Beaver Geil”: Castoreum is a substance extracted from the anal glands of beavers. It is mainly used in woody and leathery fragrances. The beavers have to be killed to extract the scent.Civet or Civet: Zibet comes from Arabic and means translated: musk. And like musk, civet involves an animal, namely the civet cat, from whose anal glands civet is extracted. The fragrance is often used for warm and animal notes in perfumes – much to the chagrin of the civet cat, for whom the extraction of the substance is torturous.Hyraceum oder African Stone: Are the petrified excrements of the rock hyrax. After all, the animals are not tortured to obtain the scent because it is easy to collect. The reason is curious: Rock hyraxes are like Finch from the movie “American Pie” and always go to the same place to do their business.
Vegan Perfume: Six fragrances without animal content
Good news first: most of these fragrances can and are produced synthetically these days. However, the manufacturers do not specify whether this is the case. And whether the cosmetics have been tested on animals or not usually remains a secret. If you are in doubt about your favorite perfume, you must therefore contact the perfume manufacturer. Otherwise, grab one of the fragrances presented. They are guaranteed without animal ingredients.
Brooklyn Soap Company: The Woods

The Brooklyn Soap Company should be familiar to men with beards. The German company is best known for its beard and facial care products. Incidentally, the name is inspired by the weekly markets in Brooklyn, where vendors sell their natural care products.
The company prides itself on producing particularly sustainably and maintains its own bee farm. Don’t worry: In the scent “The Woods” does not contain any animal ingredients. It is a woody fresh fragrance for men with a perfume oil content of 15 percent.
As a reminder: from 15 percent a fragrance can be called a perfume, between eight and 15 percent it is an eau du parfum, between four and eight an eau du toilette and below that a cologne. One speaks of an Essence de Parfum from a fragrance oil content of 20 percent.
Jean & Len: Highlands, Eau du Toilette

Jean & Len know many customers from the drugstore for their wonderfully scented soaps. The company advertises with the slogan “without fuss”. And that means for Jean & Len, among other things, to completely avoid animal ingredients. And that’s exactly what the manufacturer does with its Eau du Toilette Highlandswhich according to Jean & Len is reminiscent of a mossy, fresh and untouched highland.
Korres: Kyma Eau de Toilette

Korres is a Greek manufacturer of cosmetic products that emerged from a family pharmacy in 1996. The company relies on natural ingredients and does not use animal products. Logical that itself Kyma therefore also suitable for vegans. According to the manufacturer, the fragrance should come close to a salty sea breeze while remaining fresh and woody.
RITUALS: Byzantine Blue, Eau de Parfum

Rituals is one of the cosmetics manufacturers who pay attention to the particularly fair production of their products. The products are B-Corp certified. According to its own statement, the B-Corp is a non-profit organization that checks how sustainably and transparently a company manufactures its products and whether it lives up to its social responsibility.
Unfortunately, Rituals does not explicitly declare its perfumes as vegan, but offers its customers the website but to ask directly whether a certain product does not contain any animal ingredients. We have that with Byzantine Blue tried it and got the answer in less than an hour that the Blue Byzantine is suitable for vegans.
According to the manufacturer, it is a maritime fragrance that is reminiscent of port life in old Byzantium. Bleu fragrances impress with their freshness. It is therefore not surprising that tangerine can be found in the top note and mint in the heart note. However, the Bleu Byzantine is a bit softer and sweeter than other Bleu fragrances.
The Body Shop: BLACK MUSK Eau De Parfum

The Body Shop is a British company based in Brighton, a district about an hour south of London by the sea. According to the company, the principle is that the economy can also do good. So no wonder that Black Musk is a vegan perfume. As the name suggests, it is a musky scent. Don’t worry: no deer had to die for the scent.
Jean Paul Gaultier: Male PRIDE

Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the absolute classics among men’s fragrances. And it is available in numerous special editions, such as this Pride Edition. It’s a rather sweet scent. And of course it is Male Pride also vegan.
Heretic: Dirty Vanilla

Heretic is a relatively young company based in Los Angeles. The manufacturer specializes in plant-based perfumes that can be worn by both men and women. Fragrances that want to break boundaries. As the name suggests, it is Dirty Vanilla a vanilla scent that is also suitable for men thanks to notes of patchouli and cedar wood. At least if you dare.
