Nawada: In Nawada district of Bihar, the production of cucumber and other green vegetables has been good during the summer season. The green vegetables produced by the farmers have been nourishing the people of Nawada and neighboring Sheikhpura and Jamui districts. Especially green cucumber has been pleasing the throats of the people of the area starting from the month of Chait till the month of Jeth. But due to the heat-peak-on-saturday/” title=”France will experience a very early and exceptional heat peak on Saturday”>heatwave and scorching heat that has been going on for the last one week, vegetable and cucumber crops have been damaged.
Vegetable cultivation reduced due to migration of laborers
Let us tell you that a decade ago the farmers of the area used to cultivate vegetables and cucumber on a large scale. Gradually, due to migration of laborers, farming in the area decreased. Now only a few farmers cultivate them, because vegetables and cucumber require irrigation every other day. This year, heat wave and heat have badly affected the green vegetable crops.
Vegetable production badly affected by heat and heat wave
On the other hand, some hardworking farmers earn income by cultivating various types of vegetables like lady’s finger, bitter gourd, gourd etc. in their fields, due to which the people of the area get cheap and fresh vegetables. This year there was good vegetable cultivation in many villages of the area, but due to last week’s scorching heat and heat wave, vegetable production has been badly affected.
Vegetable prices doubled
According to the farmers, the production of Ladyfinger, Nenua, Brinjal, Parwal etc. has been badly affected due to heat wave and extreme heat. Due to low production, Jethua brinjal and lady’s finger have disappeared from the market or are coming in less quantity. The prices of Bhindi, Nenua, Brinjal and Parwal, which were available cheap till a week ago, have increased by one and a half to double.
