Venezuela closes its embassy in Ecuador

Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, announced the closure of the Embassy in Ecuador after the raid by that nation’s security forces on the Mexican legation.

For this reason, he reiterated his request that the nation governed by Daniel Noboa be expelled from the United Nations Organization (HIM) as long as he does not apologize and gives a guarantee of non-repetition of “never again doing something nasty like the one that has us gathered here.”

In addition, the ICC defines a procedure so that, if a similar situation arises in the future, the UN General Council votes – avoiding the Security Council’s veto – and:
“Resolve the matter in question in a democratic manner. If we do not do this, we will not be able to live in a world governed by rules, by laws.”

On April 5, the Ecuadorian Police stormed the Mexican embassy in Quito and arrested former Vice President Glas, accused of alleged corruption.
