Ex-Verdi boss Frank Bsirske moves into the Bundestag for the Greens – and therefore leaves the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank. His successor has now been determined.
Berlin (dpa) – The chairman of the Verdi service union, Frank Werneke, is to become a new member of the Deutsche Bank supervisory board. Werneke is intended for the vacant post and should now be judicially appointed, according to a spokesman for the union.
The «Wirtschaftswoche» had previously reported. 54-year-old Werneke has headed the union since 2019. In the bank committee, he succeeds ex-Verdi boss Frank Bsirske, who entered parliament in the Bundestag election for the Greens. He had therefore withdrawn from the Deutsche Bank Supervisory Board in mid-September. The long-time head of the union has been a member of the supervisory board since May 2013. His regular term of office would have run until the 2023 Annual General Meeting.
Achleitner welcomes the personnel
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Paul Achleitner welcomed the change. “I’m really looking forward to working with Frank Werneke,” wrote the 65-year-old on the LinkedIn network. «And I would like to thank Frank Bsirske for his valuable work as a long-standing member of the Deutsche Bank Supervisory Board. He made an important contribution to the successful restructuring of the bank, ”wrote Achleitner.
After ten years as chairman of the supervisory board, Achleitner will also leave the company after the annual general meeting in May. The presidential and nomination committee of the supervisory board must look for a successor to the chief controller. Opportunities are given to Deutsche Börse boss Theodor Weimer. Ex-Volkswagen CFO Frank Witter is also a possible candidate for the chairmanship of the supervisory board of the Frankfurt Dax group.
