jpnn.comJAKARTA – The constitutional judge rejected the applicant’s request to present President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the follow-up hearing to the 2024 General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) for the Presidential Election.
Constitutional Court (MK) Judge Arief Hidayat said the MK did not summon Jokowi because he was the head of state and head of government.
According to him, it would not be good to summon Jokowi to trial because the president is a symbol of the country that must be upheld.
“Because the president is also head of state and head of government. If it were just the head of government, we would present him at this trial. “However, because the president is the head of state, it is a symbol of the country that we must uphold by all stakeholders,” said Arief in Building I of the Indonesian Constitutional Court, Jakarta, Friday (5/4).
Therefore, he said, the Constitutional Court decided to summon the president’s assistants, namely four Advanced Indonesia Cabinet ministers who were relevant to the arguments of the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD camps.
“So we called his assistants and his assistants who are related to the applicant’s arguments,” he said.
Furthermore, Arief explained that the four ministers present were not sworn in at the start of the trial because the oath of office was still attached to them.
“He was not sworn in because the oath of office that was taken at the Palace when he was appointed as minister was attached to the time he gave his statement at this trial. “So, the Coordinating Minister (coordinating minister) and the Minister gave statements here under oath in court,” he added.
Constitutional Court Judge Arief Hidayat said that his party did not summon Jokowi because he was the head of state.
