VfB Stuttgart celebrated a lackluster 1-0 win over FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga game on Friday evening and took over second place in the table, at least temporarily.
Against a largely unimaginative Augsburg team, the Swabians were the better team for almost the entire game. Star striker Serhou Guirassy scored the decisive goal with a technically impressive goal in the 48th minute.
With the win, Stuttgart now have 70 points and sends Bayern (69 points) into third place for the time being. With a win or a draw (with a better goal difference) in the home game against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday, the Munich team can overtake them again. Due to the defeat, FC Augsburg remains in ninth place in the table with 39 points.

Despite the confirmed qualification for the Champions League and the impressive win against Bayern, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß once again urgently appealed to his players before the end of the season was approaching.
