It has been reported that 5 teams will be participating in the 2023 Women’s IPL and the announcement of the teams will be made on January 25. Also, BCCI has informed that the player auction for women’s IPL teams will be held in February and the tournament will start in March.
Meanwhile, Reliance’s Viacom 18 has also acquired the rights to broadcast the Women’s IPL. Viacom 18 has been awarded the license to broadcast the Women’s IPL for five years from 2023 to 2027. Viacom 18 has acquired a 5-year broadcasting license at a rights fee of Rs 7.09 per IPL match.
Accordingly, it has agreed to provide Rs.951 crore for 5 years. It is said that this right applies to all types of television channels and digital channels in all countries including India. The company has also acquired the rights of the men’s IPL tournament for the next 5 years for Rs 23.758 crore. Also, Reliance is planning to broadcast the IPL 2023 match for free.
