Amazon recently shared images of humanoid robots preparing orders in one of its warehouses in Seattle on October 18. We see human-sized androids with arms and legs performing tasks such as picking up and moving empty bins. Enough to worry the employees of the multinational, who fear losing their jobs in the near future. Still in the testing phase, this robot is called Digit. It was developed by the company Agility Robotics. The humanoid is capable of moving and manipulating objects. Faced with the growing concern of Amazon employees, the firm guarantees that these machines are not planned to replace them. They will be used to move and replace emptied bins, a very repetitive task.
The multinational even estimates that this technology should create 700 new types of jobs to ensure the operation of these robots. Amazon already has more than 750,000 robots in its warehouses that work in collaboration with its employees.
