The populist Viktor Orban remained close to the Kremlin. He visited Kiev on Tuesday for the first time, where he pleaded with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a “stop”, without the prior withdrawal of Russian forces from the Ukrainian territories where they are.

This Eurosceptic official, who has been in power without interruption since 2010, was fiercely against any discussion of EU membership for Ukraine, considering that this country was not ready. He finally agreed to leave the Twenty Seven summit table last December, and the other 26 leaders decided to open negotiations.
