The company Vinazin SA, linked to Lavinia Valbonesi, wife of President Daniel Noboa, announced that it has decided to suspend work on the Echo Olón 1 project.
The intention to build this project in Olón was known on Monday, May 6, when a group began to carry out work as part of the actions for the construction of the real estate project.
The project unleashed a controversy that escalated to the Prosecutor’s Office, ex officio, opening, on May 8, a preliminary investigation to analyze the facts and determine whether or not there are illegalities that generate the initiation of a criminal process as such.
Community members raised objections to the project, arguing that it would affect the mangrove forest. In addition, Fundación La Iguana disseminated information that the urban project is intended to be built in the area.
In a statement, Vinazin SA argued that unlike the political sectors that intervened and manipulated in that process, they do understand and respect the legitimate concern of those who live in the sector.
He also assured that the project was always supported by all the required documentation and that a mangrove was never touched. It also has environmental permits, forest inventory and case records.
People close to the presidential circle have been related to the project, including current ministers: Robero Luque, Sade Fristschi and Mónica Palencia.
The studies for the construction were prepared by the company Geosísmica, which has among its shareholders the current Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Roberto Luque.
Fritschi, Minister of the Environment, is mainly pointed out because from a zonal direction of the State portfolio, on December 5, 2023, the environmental registration was granted for the urban project of the Vinazin company.
It was also revealed that the Minister of the Interior, Mónica Palencia, and her daughter, as lawyers, received authorization from the Vinazin company to carry out legal and administrative procedures to obtain approval and registration of the reform of the company’s corporate purpose and statute. company.
That firm announced that it will carry out the enclosure of the privately owned land and will desist from continuing with the rest of the work, since, it argued, the company cannot be allowed to be used in order to chaoticize the sector and as a banner for political interests.
He added that the hiring of 2,783 local people was expected for a period of two years.
“We are convinced that this innovative proposal not only proposed full employment for the sector, but also a new architectural vision, which would also stimulate the creation of local businesses and place Olón as an international tourist center,” he said in a statement. (YO)
