Bangladesh Party Alleges Violence and Arson in Student Coup Attempt
The Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has accused the government of orchestrating violence, arson, and arson as part of a conspiracy to undermine the recent student-led coup attempt. The party called for an immediate end to the violence.
AB Party member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju made this call at a press conference held at the party’s central office in the capital on Wednesday night. Several prominent figures were present at the conference, including Professor Dr. Abdul Wahab Minar, Advocate Tajul Islam, and Advocate Ghulam Farooq.
Manju alleged that the government’s crackdown on the anti-discrimination student movement had been excessively violent, citing widespread torture. He praised the students for their bravery and sacrifice during the movement.
Manju also criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of abandoning the party and fleeing to India. He expressed gratitude to the army for finally siding with the people and not becoming “friends of dictatorship.”
The party expressed solidarity with the interim government and pledged to support it in its efforts.
